Salvador Dalí - Art Exhibition
"Two Visions of the Mediterranean" — Salvador Dalí Sassi Foundation, Via San Giovanni Vecchio 7 — until October 29, 2026 At the Sassi Foundation in Matera, in the underground passages carved into the living rock of Sasso Barisano, "Two Visions of the Mediterranean" is on display: an exhibition project promoted by Lart Universe that connects two distinct paths yet sharing the same cultural roots. Exibart The first section, "The Surreal Wind of the Mediterranean," is entirely dedicated to Salvador Dalí and curated by Beniamino Levi. The exhibition traces Dalí's relationship with the Mediterranean landscape, understood not as a backdrop but as a generative element of his imagination: places like Cadaqués and Port Lligat emerge as symbolic matrices, where light, wind, and natural morphology contribute to the construction of a visual universe suspended between reality and vision. Exibart The works on display include Space Venus, a surrealist reinterpretation of the Venus de Milo, and The Laurels of Happiness (1974), part of the After 50 cycle, in which the Mediterranean landscape intertwines with the artist's biography and his relationship with Gala. These are accompanied by photographs by Robert Descharnes documenting Dalí's connection to the places where he trained. Exibart The exhibition draws a parallel with Matera, identifying an affinity between the marine Mediterranean and the "terrestrial" one represented by the Sassi. Two extreme landscapes—the Catalan coasts and the Lucanian ravines—share the same cutting light, the same tension between the ancient and the visionary. Exibart A rare encounter: the work of one of the most iconic artists of the twentieth century housed in one of the most evocative cave sites in the world. Hours: 10:00–18:00 Closed Tuesdays. Where: Sassi Foundation, Via San Giovanni Vecchio 7, Sasso Barisano Until: October 20, 2026
