Slow Food – Novellolio: Oil, Bread, and Stories in Matera

This experience is an invitation to slow down and conviviality, designed to help you discover extra virgin olive oil not as a simple product, but as the living soul of our culture. You'll spend about 4 or 5 hours at the table with small family producers: people who carry on knowledge passed down over time and who truly make oil, every year, with their own hands. Amidst conversation and traditional Matera dishes, you'll experience a gastronomic journey where each course is paired with a different oil. The producers themselves will guide you in recognizing aromas and intensity, showing you how the flavor of a food can profoundly transform based on the oil paired with it. It won't just be a meal, but a shared narrative: between courses, there will be time for short readings and stories—from the Odyssey to ancient myths—where the olive tree appears as a symbol of home, peace, and strength, linking what we eat to a thousand-year history. The experience, available year-round for groups of up to 20 people, is designed for those who love authentic food and want direct, informal contact with locals.
