Description
An exhibition by 108 (Guido Bisagni)
Matera was born from the tuff. Houses, walls, fountains, and churches were carved from solid rock, one block at a time with geometric patience, and the quarries are the physical evidence of the void that remains.
108 (Guido Bisagni) finds in Matera a familiarity both in the forms and in the process of continuous addition and subtraction, reflecting an artistic method consolidated over 25 years of activity.
The excavated form constructs a double landscape, one the negative of the other. The void of the quarries is the solid of the city. In the void, the city lives.
Following other artists of recent decades, Matera continues to be an object of study, development, and a structure to be shaped: 108 and his abstract works add a layer to the city's narrative.
